Boy, some things on the internet really make me laugh. by Scott Campbell

A new service is going to be launched in August in the USA. A website called StyleForRent (www.styleforrent.com) will be launched shortly in the Bay Area of California. It will give women (or men, if they wish) the chance to rent expensive purses from brands such as Prada, Louis Vitton, Gucci and a few other brands. The cost to rent a purse will be as low as $5 a week.

The site explains that “Some women are planning to use this service as a “beer of the month” type of deal, which has been used by the opposite sex for years. This way one can enjoy a different purse every month while paying a fraction of the cost.”

For me, the problem with this is that we will slowly begin to live in a society where everything is rented rather than purchased. It may build up an atmosphere of suspicion and doubt, where nobody knows who actually owns an object rather than renting it.

All I can say is that if you live in the Bay Area of California, and you are desperate to beat the Jones’s, then this site is a must for you.

Get back to tech!

I am in day 12 of running Linux only for personal use. I love it! No more Windows for me. Speedy fast. No AV,no firewall, no anti-spyware programs.

Yeah, it’s all good.
